Advanced Placement
Program
Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams are created by the College Board to let high school students study college-level subjects and earn credit in advance. Students can choose subjects based on their interests and strengths, and they do not need to be enrolled in an international school — self-study or tutoring is also accepted. Even if a school does not offer AP classes, students may still register for the AP exam. Scores range from 1 to 5 and are sent directly by the College Board; AP does not award a diploma.
AP exams take place every May in more than 80 countries. There are currently 22 AP subjects and 37 courses. While taking AP classes is not required before the test, strong AP scores are an important factor in U.S. college admissions and can help students stand out and potentially earn college credit or advanced placement.
PANO can provide an official AP course enrollment certificate for students who need documentation to complete their AP exam registration through their school.

Q5: Are AP subjects added or removed over time?
A: Yes, AP subjects are regularly reviewed and adjusted.
The College Board, which develops and manages AP courses, periodically reviews them to ensure they meet university-level standards.

For example, in 2023, the College Board added two new courses: AP African History and AP Computer Science A.
