  • Science: Biology, Chemistry, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Physics 1, Physics 2

  • Math and Computer Science: Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Computer Science A

  • History and Social Sciences: U.S. History, World History, European History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics

When selecting AP subjects, students should consider their interests, abilities, and future career goals. If a student is passionate about a subject and willing to invest time and effort, they can achieve high scores even in challenging AP exams.

A: Based on the 2023 AP exam results, the following subjects have higher 5-score rates:

Q: Are AP subjects added or removed over time?

A: Yes, AP subjects are regularly reviewed and adjusted.

The College Board, which develops and manages AP courses, periodically reviews them to ensure they meet university-level standards. Courses that no longer align with these standards may be removed.

Q: Can AP exam scores count toward college credits?

A: Yes, AP scores of 3 or above can often count for college credits, though top universities may require scores of 4 or 5. Credit policies vary by university, so students should check with their target institutions for the latest requirements.

Q: If my AP score is low, will it affect my college application?

A: Ideally, higher AP scores strengthen applications. Scores of 3 or above are generally worth submitting to showcase academic ability. For low scores, especially in self-studied subjects, students have the option to withhold them from their applications.
